Ski Antuco
The resort is located 82 miles east of Los Angeles in the Laguna del Laja National Park in the foothills of the Antuco volcano. The altitude is 1,400 meters. It has ten slopes with three elevators. The services include a cafeteria, restaurant, transportation and sanitation. The complex also offers other adventure activities like hiking and a variety of recreational walks.
Based on the fact that the Antuco Volcano was nominated by international agencies for the selection of the 7 wonders of the world, the “Comité Volcán Antuco, una maravilla natural” (“Antuco Volcano Committee, a natural wonder”) committee was formed, to seek public support to help win the title. Other wonders of Chile, which were nominated were: The Tatio Geysers field (Atacama Region) and Torres del Paine with the Milodon Cave (Magallanes). The campaign ended on December 31, 2008 with the election of 77 of the 200 candidates from around the world.
Another option is to head down from the ski resort to visit the monuments of Laguna del Laja National Park, which includes the Rio Laja, Las Chilcas and The Torbellino waterfalls.
