Port of Talcahuano

Región de Bio Bio
South Chile

Is located 16 kilometers from Concepción and is the main port in the region. It is surrounded by hills and small houses. It is also a point of operations for fishermen and naval artillery. The streets of the port are impressive but the most popular point of interest is the Monitor Huáscar, a boat that is an important part of Chilean history. The ship was originally part of the Peruvian Navy in the Pacific War and war hero, Captain Arturo Prat died on its deck. In 1879, he was captured by the Chilean navy.
