Beaches of La Serena

The most popular and well known beach is called La Herradura, a tranquil bay with fine sand. Between La Serena and Coquimbo lies Peñuelas, a beach that has become a fishing pier and has a casino, horse racing track and dozens of restaurants offering local specialties. South of the city you will find some of the best resorts and beaches of Chile, like Tongoy (Playa Socos) Guanaqueros, Playa Blanca, Morrillos, Las Tacas and Totoralillo, among others.
