Viña del Mar
Región de ValparaisoCentral Coast
Is also known as the Ciudad Jardín (Garden City) because of its beautiful gardens and parks, it is located near Valparaiso, however, the city has its own personality and charm.
According to the story, Viña del Mar began as a dream. It was founded in 1874 when Jose Francisco Vergara decided to create a town near Valparaiso, but with its own style and identity. If Vergara were to see Viña del Mar today, he would be proud: In little more than a century, Viña has become the Chile's tourism industry’s main city.
Along the coast high-rise buildings were built and there are dozens of restaurants offering a wide variety of seafood. The city’s nocturnal entertainment is centered around the casino where many international shows take place. It is on Avenida Perú and is a popular place to watch the sunset over the sea.
In the summer, thousands of tourists visit Viña del Mar, the most popular beach is Reñaca, a place where you can see bronzed bodies, girls in bikinis, paddle tennis players and surfers. At night there is a wide range of pubs and discos open till dawn. At the end of summer each year, it celebrates the International Song Festival, attended by major international music stars.
