Chillán

Región del Bio Bio & del Maule

The city of Chillán, has been consistently plagued by natural disasters throughout its modern history, it is located 407 kilometers south of Santiago and 270 kilometers north of Temuco, and has a population of 148,000 inhabitants. It is the birthplace of Chilean liberator Bernardo O’Higgins it has museums, Mexican murals and the most complete fruit and vegetable market in the whole country. In addition to O’Higgins, Chillán is the place of origin of internationally-known pianist Claudio Arrau, who has his own museum.
